The global pandemic forced the sheltering community to pivot and adjust to challenges. Some of these were temporary, but others represent fundamental changes in labor markets and pet parent behavior that are part of a “new normal” that requires innovative solutions. Heidi will deep dive into various U.S. sources of economic, shelter and adoption data to answer questions about changes in intakes, transport, and outcomes precipitated by the pandemic. What challenges have been met by the sheltering industry and how can we adapt to best serve pets & people in our new reality?
