I am a lifelong space enthusiast – collector, curator and historian of space mission patches and a storyteller of their design and the people and STEAM fields involved with the missions. I founded STEAM4SPACE to assist educators with connecting students to STEAM using real mission patches and design stories to inspire them to pursue careers and degrees in STEAM related to human spaceflight and space exploration. I have donated 45,000+ real mission patches to over 1000 STEAM educators in 24 countries, forming a global network of educators to promote space education worldwide. I facilitate sessions about the history of mission patch design, sharing origin stories from the astronauts and space artists that designed them to create unforgettable learning experiences that inspire students to explore STEM topics related to a mission.
I have over thirty years of professional experience leading the design of enterprise and consumer applications in the mobile, healthcare, financial, aviation and retail industries. I volunteer as a technical trainer for educators and students on designing and coding for the web, and I produced/developed the website for former NASA astronaut Fred Haise and premiere space emblem artist Tim Gagnon. In addition, I partnered with Apollo 13 astronaut, Fred Haise, to facilitate education sessions that focus on the STEM involved with the Apollo 13 mission, providing the opportunity for students to interact directly with Fred Haise.
