Rabbi Sharon Mars officially joined the Temple Israel congregation as Associate Rabbi for Community Engagement in April, 2013 and became the congregation's Senior Rabbi in July, 2017 . She received her Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies from the University of California at Santa Barbara, a Master of Hebrew Letters from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles, and Rabbinic Ordination HUC-JIR in New York.

Rabbi Mars has served as Columbus Jewish Community Chaplain and Rabbi of Wexner Heritage Village's Zusman Hospice. Before moving to Columbus, she was the Rabbi of Hillel at University of North Carolina. Both Rabbi Mars and her husband, Or, have led worship services at Temple Israel during the High Holy Days.

Rabbi Mars is married to Or Mars, and they have three children. She loves yoga, classic and alternative rock, college basketball, and chatting over a good cup of coffee.
