In an age of infinite choices the likely outcome is making no choice at all. Tradition offers a way of limiting choice to ease decision-making. An examination of Maimondes' discussion of gifts for the poor provides a useful model for thinking about the importance of the restrictions of Jewish Law to encourage the decision making that allows for innovation.
