Joy Friedman is the Religious Action Center's Director of Organizing, where she helps develop strategies for the RAC’s social justice work and oversees the state RAC organizing projects in California, Illinois, New York, Ohio, and Texas. Joy has 15 years of experience as a community organizer, running grassroots campaigns with interfaith communities at the local, state, and federal level. Joy has provided training and delivered presentations on community organizing principles and practices to hundreds of interfaith, labor, and civic community leaders all over the country. Before beginning her work with the Reform Movement in 2011, Joy organized congregations in the Kansas City metro area with Faith in Action; prior to that, she organized synagogues in Greater Boston with the Jewish Community Relations Council and the Greater Boston Interfaith Organization. A cum laude graduate of Carleton College, Joy was selected to participate in the Leading Change program at Harvard's Kennedy School and the Bend the Arc's Selah leadership program.
