This practical hands-on session will deliver one-on-one instruction of sutured scleral fixated intraocular lens implant techniques. A silicone eye model will be used to outline the surgical steps of these methods. Each participant will have their own microscope with individualized live feedback from instructors, and therefore can approach this practice at their own pace.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize indications for scleral fixated intraocular lens implant (IOL) in eyes with absent capsular support
  • Describe surgical steps of fixating IOL in the sulcus
  • Troubleshoot complications that can occur during scleral fixation of IOL
