Dr. Yoganathan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences at the University of Toronto. She is the Co-President of the Toronto Ophthalmological Society, a Clinician Investigator for Foundation Fighting Blindness, and an Affiliate Scientist at St Michael’s Hospital. She is the Co-Chair of the Canadian Ophthalmic Imaging Symposium, Director of the Retina Surgical Skills Course for the Canadian Ophthalmological Society and the COS Planning Member for Retina Case Conference Canada for the last 3 years. She also served as the Co-Chair of the Canadian Retina Society annual meeting for 2 years. She was appointed to the Ophthalmology Board Examination Committee of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2016. She has completed the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons’ Educators Faculty Development Program and was awarded Teacher of the Year by her residents in her first year of practice.

Dr. Yoganathan completed a Bachelor of Science in Physiology at McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, and obtained her MD at Albany Medical College, Albany, New York. She then graduated from residency at North Shore – Long Island Jewish (now Northwell), New York. She completed her vitreoretinal fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto.

Dr. Yoganathan has been practicing cross-border in the United States and Canada since she completed board certification in both countries in 2010. Her appointments have included Director of the Retina Department at the University at Buffalo and Assistant Professor at Drexel University and Temple University. Dr. Yoganathan has successfully launched her own investigator-initiated clinical trial; her research interests include retinal trauma, diabetic retinopathy, and patient-related outcomes.
