Irfan N. Kherani AB, MD

Irfan Kherani is a fourth year ophthalmology resident at the University of Ottawa, where he is currently Chief Resident. He is presently serving as Vice-President of the Council of Canadian Ophthalmology Residents and recently completed his term as Chair of the Board of the Resident Doctors of Canada (RDoC) and Resident Council Member on the Medical Council of Canada (MCC). Irfan grew up in Edmonton, Alberta and completed his secondary schooling at Lester B. Pearson United World College of the Pacific. In 2011, he graduated from Princeton University with an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology with certificates in Global Health & Health Policy as well as Theatre Arts. During his undergraduate medical training, Irfan served as President of the University of Alberta Medical Students’ Association and Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Federation of Medical Students. He is interested in medical education, specifically how we can optimize the implementation of competency-based medical education, as well as the role of electroretinography in the assessment of pre-perimetric glaucoma.
