Dr. Gunay Ibrahimzade is currently an ophthalmic plastic and ocular oncology surgeon at the National Ophthalmology Centre named after acad. Zarifa Aliyeva in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Dr. Gunay Ibrahimzade received her medical degree at Azerbaijan Medical University in 2006. She completed her ophthalmology training at International Scientific-Technical Complex "Microsurgery of Eye" named after acad. S.N. Fyodorov in Moscow where she received Doctor of Philosophy. She went on to complete an ocular oncology fellowship at Russian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. She then held an ophthalmic plastic and ocular oncology surgery fellowship at “Uludag” University in Bursa, Turkey. Dr. Ibrahimzade was trained at European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (module on Orbital, lacrimal  &  ophthalmic plastic surgery) at University of Malta in Msida. 

Dr. Ibrahimzade specializes in the diagnosis and management of ocular inflammation and ocular oncology diseases. She has particular interest in eyelid, orbital and lacrimal surgery. Her research interests in eye socket problems and thyroid eye disease. 

Dr. Gunay Ibrahimzade trains residents and fellows at the National Ophthalmology Centre named after acad. Zarifa Aliyeva and has over 20 publications and 10 presentations to date.
