How:
Functional visual loss accounts for up to 12% of presentations to neuro-ophthalmic clinics, and up to 50% can have co-existent organic disease. Allied health practitioners in ophthalmology have a large role in helping to differentiate organic from functional visual loss by the use of specific examination techniques when testing visual acuity and visual fields. They also have a role in conducting various adjunctive tests that help to separate organic from functional visual loss. This course aims to describe an approach to patients with functional visual loss, specifically focusing on areas where allied health can aid in the diagnosis.
