CATALYST (PCI Geomatics) has played a critical role in supporting the Government of Canada, Academic and Commercial organizations to meet their objectives processing satellite optical, SAR and aerial data using advanced science and automated workflows. New design patterns make it possible to implement the same great technology in new, innovative ways. What we will cover: In this workshop we will demonstrate how to scale processing using various approaches including: -Building automated Python based workflows to automate processing within CATALYST Professional -Leveraging built automation through CATALYST Enterprise -Deploying conventional (CP or CE) processing environments leveraging on premise or cloud based architectures -Implementing massively scalable microservices based processing environments to achieve low latency, high volume processing of big data Use Case Demonstration: In this workshop we will showcase how CATALYST has integrated its technology in the Azure cloud environment to process the complete Sentinel-1 GRD archive to a Radiometric terrain corrected product level. What you will learn: -How to process imagery in different environments and achieve automation -Introduction to cloud computing and key concepts -Understanding cloud flexibility and elasticity -How to use design cloud-based applications to process geospatial data -The necessity of Radiometric terrain corrected products for geospatial science -Example use cases for processing on the cloud

The intent of this workshop is two-fold. First, to provide an introduction to an Open-Source based stack. Second, to provide insights on the use of Open GIS standard formats to power an organization's geospatial applications. To cover the first intent, we will look into the following components: - QGIS: The Swiss Army knife for geospatial enthusiasts. Learn how to create, analyze, and visualize maps using this user-friendly open-source Geographic Information System (GIS). - PostgreSQL: Enterprise grade database management system - GeoServer: Cloud-based spatial data server. We will discuss how to serve data from various sources like Postgres, Geopackage, SQLite, and shapefiles. - Web Client: Understand how to build web and mobile applications that consume geospatial data. We will demonstrate how to create intuitive interfaces that empower users to make informed decisions from geospatial data. To cover the second intent, we will discuss and provide hands-on workshop on: - Cloud Optimized GeoTiff (COG) - Cloud Optimized Point Cloud (COPC) - GeoParquet The workshop will be structured in such a way that the workflow will satisfy the requirements of the GIS Developer persona and a GIS Analyst persona. The role of GIS in almost all organizations is evolving from a technical system to an integrative, enterprise-wide capability that provides a unique perspective to solve many business challenges. This half-day workshop is intended to help existing GIS professionals, and those new to GIS in a management position, transition from a technical "What and How" focus on GIS technology to a strategic, value-oriented "Who and Why" mindset around what a GIS can contribute to the organization. The workshop will explore the role of GIS in addressing organizational business needs outside of the traditional "Mapping" view and will provide participants tools and strategies for effectively communicating GIS value to stakeholders.
