
Dr. Ana Brian Nougrères is a Professor of Law, Privacy and ICT at the School of Engineering (since 2014), and at the Degree in Data Science for Business (since 2022), of Universidad de Montevideo. She also teaches Law, Data Protection and ICT at the School of Law of Universidad de la República (since 2000). Practicing Attorney-at-law (1986-2024) and Consultant on data protection, she is based in Montevideo, Uruguay.
In July 2021, the Human Rights Council appointed Dr. Brian Nougrères as the Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy and took up the mandate on 1 August 2021.
Between 2022 and 2024 the Special Rapporteur on privacy has presented five thematic reports to the Human Rights Council (HRC) and the General Assembly (GA):
