Mana Allen got her start Off-Broadway as a young actor in Trixie True: Teen Detective and went on to perform in the original Broadway companies of Merrily We Roll Along and Smile. During her 15 year acting career, she created roles in 17 world premiere productions, toured nationally, appeared regionally, served as U.S. Cultural Ambassador touring India, Sri Lanka, and her voice was heard on cast recordings, television and radio. Mana is an adjunct professor at Barnard College and also serves on the faculty of the Fordham University Summer Musical Theatre Intensive with Maestro David Loud, as well as maintaining an active private studio in New York City. She has directed and taught at The Broadway Theatre Project and served on the faculty of CAP21 Musical Theatre Conservatory for 20 years. Mana was an artistic company member of The New Harmony Project, The Gathering at Big Fork, and Associate Producer of the CAP21 Blackjacks Festivals of New Works. She is the co-librettist of Rebels 1775 - which premiered at RVC Starlight Theatre in Rockford IL., and broke box office records at The Spirit of Broadway Theatre in New Brunswick, CT. She served as dramaturg for John Allen, including: Theatreworks USA's Lady Liberty, Jefferson and Jupiter, Young Abe Lincoln (also co-lyricist). Mana also creates and directs revues and cabaret shows throughout NYC. She is a permanent volunteer to the Museum and to the Artistic Producer of events at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, where she contributes as a theatre historian and director. Mana hails from a New York musical theatre family and her stories appear in Jennifer Ashley Tepper’s book series, “The Untold Stories of Broadway” (Volumes One, Two and Three).
