Peter Nigrini (Projection Designer) has for the past fifteen years, been a pioneer in the integration of digital projection technology and live theatre. Designs include Dear Evan Hansen, recently opened on Broadway, Here Lies Love, conceived and written by David Byrne, Fela!, a musical based on the life of Fela Kuti, the Nigerian pop star and political activist, An Act of God, Gore Vidal’s The Best Man, Grounded directed by Julie Taymor for the Public Theater, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Diety by Kristoffer Diaz, and a series of adaptations with Robert Woodruff including Dostoyevsky’s Notes from Underground, Bergman’s Autumn Sonata, and Fassbinder’s In a Year of Thirteen Moons, all produced first at Yale Repertory Theatre. In addition to his work in the theater, he also designs in other contexts and mediums, including the Grace Jones Hurricane tour, Real Enemies, a multi-media piece conceived with Darcy James Argue and Isaac Butler for the 18 piece jazz ensemble The Secrete Society and BAM, and Blind Date, an evening long dance piece for Bill T. Jones. He is also a founding member the New York troupe, Nature Theater of Oklahoma, for which he designed every aspect of their productions including No Dice, Romeo and Julie, and the multi-part work Life & Times. Currently in development are Amélie, a musical based on the 2001 film that will be coming to Broadway this spring, The Spongebob Musical, coming to Broadway next fall, and Monsoon Wedding, currently out of town at Berkeley Rep, and Lucia di Lammermoor for Santa Fe Opera.
