GREG ZANE has had a career that spans the world of theatre and ballet. A director, choreographer and dance teacher based in New York City, Greg has worked on theatrical productions, ballets and with dance academies that include Lincoln Center Theater, ZACH Theatre, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, TheatreWorks USA, American Ballet Theatre, Hawaii Ballet Theatre and Oklahoma City Ballet Conservatory. In 1996, Greg began an association with Rodgers and Hammerstein’s The King & I when he was cast in the ensemble of the 1996 Broadway revival. It was during this period that the choreography for the Act 2 ballet: The Small House of Uncle Thomas was passed down to him. An acknowledged re-constructor of the iconic Jerome Robbins choreography, Greg has directed or choreographed several productions of The King & I across the US. In 2015, Greg became the Associate Choreographer for Lincoln Center Theater’s highly acclaimed Broadway revival of The King & I. Not only was Greg involved in shaping the dance vocabulary during the creative process but also, over the entirety of its run, he helped to cast the show and maintain/teach the Tony Award nominated choreography of the production. Greg is currently the Associate Choreographer for the National Tour of Lincoln Center Theater’s production of The King & I where he assumes same the responsibilities from Broadway. Direction/ choreographic credits include: Singin’ In The Rain, Elf the Musical, Seussical, Carousel, The Sound of Music, Cinderella, Flower Drum Song (David Henry Hwang ver), Peter Pan, The Life & Times of June B. Jones National Tour. Performance credits include: The King & I (1996 Broadway & 2000 West End revivals), Radio City Christmas Spectacular, A Chorus Line, West Side Story. Dance companies include: Alberta Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, Hawaii Ballet Theatre, Los Angeles Chamber Ballet. Greg is currently on the ballet faculty at Broadway Dance Center and is a Company teacher for The Paul Taylor Dance Company. He has taught at The Capezio Peridance Center, Oklahoma City Ballet Conservatory, Punahou Dance Academy, and open classes at American Ballet Theatre. Students include not only Broadway and theatre professionals but also dancers from Dance Theatre of Harlem, Lines, Complexions, ABT, NYCB, Boston Ballet, Royal Ballet of Sweden, Ballet Hispanic, Joffrey Ballet, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. Greg’s teaching techniques are influenced by his teachers who include: David Howard, Diana Cartier (ABT), Alaina Haubert (ABT), Peter Schabel among others.
