Megan Tucker
I have been teaching STEM/STEAM for 20 years and loving creating lessons to engage students to learn the importance of the Engineering Design Process as well as to have a Growth Mindset. I taught 4th grade as a classroom teacher and grade level STEM teacher and science chair in Florida, wrote national aerospace STEM curriculum for the Civil Air Patrol, worked on national STEM curriculum with AVID, taught 7th grade STEM for in California and have moved to Virginia in 2016 to help open Hillsboro Charter Academy as the Dean of Curriculum, K-5 STEAM Specialist, IFT, Gifted Teacher, and facilitator of professional development. I am passionate about teaching scholars through the lens of aerospace and love using the latest technology "tools not toys" to hook our young learners. I am the current 2023 National Aviation Hall of Fame Crossfied Teacher of the Year as well as a Limitless Educator. I was the 2021 National AFA STEM Teacher of the Year, 2019 AIAA Foundation Educator, NASA SOFIA AAA Ambassador and the 2011 National CAP Teacher of the Year. I tell people all the time that my job is all about providing real world situations where scholars have to use the 21st Century Skills to solve a problem, and have fun while doing it! :)
