Sew Sisters – Thwarting Thermal Transfer (Grades: K-5)

My Session Status

When:
1:30 PM, Friday 28 Jun 2024 (1 hour 20 minutes)
Where:
The Center for Space Education - Room 7010
Meet the amazing NASA Sew Sister Jean Wright as she discusses how her group of Aerospace Composite Technicians crafted thermal blankets to insulate the orbiters from thermal energy. Utilize that new information to engage in an engineering design challenge to create a barrier that will protect an object from thermal energy conduction. Help your student connect the academic concepts to real-life applications. Participants will be able to lead their students through an engineering design challenge that aligns with the NGSS regarding thermal transfer, energy, along with sketching, drawing, designing, & building a model.
