Parnian Arjmand, M.D., M.Sc., FRCSC, DABO is a vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in the medical and surgical management of vitreous and retinal conditions.

Dr. Arjmand completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto with a specialization in immunology, where she was awarded the Heaslip Scholarship at Trinity College. She then pursued a two-year Master’s degree in Immunology at SickKids Hospital, University of Toronto. Following this, she attended medical school at McMaster University before completing a five-year ophthalmology residency at the University of Ottawa. She subsequently underwent a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Toronto (Sunnybrook and Toronto Western Hospitals), where she also served as chief fellow.

Dr. Arjmand practices at the Mississauga Retina Institute, Burlington Laser Eye Centre, and Baycrest Health Sciences Centre. Her surgical expertise includes vitrectomy for macular diseases (macular hole, epiretinal membrane, vitreomacular traction), diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, and complex anterior segment surgery for aphakia and the management of dislocated or subluxated intraocular lenses.

Actively engaged in clinical research, Dr. Arjmand participates in retina-related clinical trials and has received numerous clinical awards and research grants. She has contributed to several book chapters, editorials, and peer-reviewed research articles.

Dr. Arjmand is double board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. She is a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Canadian Retina Society, and the Canadian Ophthalmological Society. She is also a past executive member and the current media strategist for the Eye Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and serves on multiple committees within the Canadian Ophthalmological Society.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Arjmand is an avid runner and enjoys scuba diving, skiing, and spending time with her family. She is proficient in English, French, Persian, and medical Spanish.
