Joanna Cheek, MD, FRCPC, MFA, is a Victoria-based psychiatrist, Clinical Associate Professor at the University of British Columbia, journalist, and co-founder and co-lead of Mind Space, an MSP-covered provincial program that’s offered mental health skills training to over 18,000 patients and physicians in every health authority across the province.  She has special interests in equity, diversity, and inclusivity, quality improvement, and mental health knowledge translation, with her upcoming book It’s Not You. It’s the World: A Mental Health Survival Guide for Us All (Harper Collins Canada/Hachette Go/Canongate, 2025) translated into numerous languages around the world.
