Dr Eugene Michael completed his medical training at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, where he graduated with the Calvin Ring Prize in Ophthalmology. He then completed his Ophthalmology residency in Auckland, being awarded the Arthur Thomas Paterson Award for academic merit. Dr Michael undertook a Retina fellowship in Australia before returning to New Zealand as a locum retina specialist. He then embarked on further training with The University of Alberta Retina Fellowship program, to gain experience in complex retinal surgery and retina subspecialty experience in Uveitis, Inherited Retinal Disease, Ocular Oncology and Retinopathy of Prematurity.

Dr Michael enjoys hiking, weight training, watching live sport, live music and spending time with friends and family.
