Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- To improve surgical techniques during eye surgery in the digital age.
- To know the most common types of retinal pathologies that can result from myopia.
- Identify and articulate the current disparities in eye health outcomes across different populations, recognizing the socio-economic, cultural, and geographic factors that contribute to these inequalities.
- Learn practical strategies to enhance their clinical practice, enabling them to provide more equitable care and improve eye health outcomes for underserved populations in their communities.
- To review important points in preparation and aftercare for infants who require cataract surgery, from pre-operative planning to long term post-operative care.
- Describe the limits of “self-care” as we progress towards a model of “collective-care” that recognizes how our individual health depends most on the health of our wider social and environmental systems.
- By the end of this session, ophthalmologists will be able to identify and apply effective advocacy strategies and techniques to promote access to quality eye care.
