
Dr. Amin Kherani is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary and Past President of the Canadian Retina Society. He is an active educator and vitreoretinal surgeon who has serviced the Calgary and Southern Alberta community for nearly 25 years. He completed most of his medical education including his MD and Ophthalmology Residency at the University of Alberta. He furthered his subspecialty fellowship training in Medical and Surgical Retina at the University of Iowa. He was the inaugural ophthalmology Residency Training Director at the University of Calgary, which he served for nearly 10 years. He is also the current Retina Fellowship Program Co-director which was initiated together with Dr. Geoff Williams in Calgary about 15 years ago. They also co-founded and developed a community-based group retina practice, Calgary Retina Consultants and built the Southern Alberta Eye Center. The Department of Surgery, Calgary zone has appointed Dr. Kherani to lead the Office of Surgical Fellowship for all surgical fellows at the University of Calgary. Complimenting is professional activities, he also engages actively in clinical research and has participates in numerous industry supported randomized clinical trials. He really enjoys playing tennis and is committed to his family including his dear wife Shellina and their two children, Jayhan and Imaan.
