It is lightweight, flexible, and can be installed on Windows, MacOSX, and Linux. Best of all, most will find QGIS to be extremely affordable while still providing a growing list of features and functionality.

Topics Covered:

  • Interface
  • Vector Data
  • Symbology
  • Plugins
  • Processing Tools
  • Layouts

What to expect: Learning new software can be intimidating for some especially if you are used to a certain product that you have been using for years. Or perhaps you are new to GIS and looking for an affordable, user-friendly alternative to other popular GIS software. This introduction to QGIS will familiarize you with the interface and many tools and features that will assist  with viewing, editing, analyzing, creating, managing, and serving GIS data in a variety of formats.

  • Who might benefit from this workshop: Veteran GIS professionals, new GIS users, and anyone in between
  • Vetted By the QGIS Community:  This class is accredited. All students will get a QGIS certificate and the  cost of the certificate will be  donated back to the organization.
  • Level of experience required for this workshop: Some prior knowledge/understanding/education in GIS is highly recommended. While not absolutely necessary, some of the terminology and concepts discussed may diminish the experience and overall usefulness of the workshop. However, if you are new to GIS and would like to attend this workshop, please contact us in advance to discuss how we can help you become workshop-ready!
