Mr Valéry Vander Geeten
Valéry Vander Geeten is the Head of Legal and DPO of the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium (CCB), which is a federal public administration under the authority of the Prime Minister.
The CCB is the competent cybersecurity authority and national Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) in Belgium.
Valéry is inter alia in charge of the implementation of the Network and Information Security directives (NIS1 and NIS2) in Belgium and he is actively participating in the activities of the European NIS Cooperation group (as current chair during the Belgian Presidency). He has also coordinated the development of the Belgian policy on coordinated vulnerability disclosure policy and ethical hacking.
In his position at the CCB, he has developed an in-depth practical and legal expertise in cybersecurity, cybercrime, data protection, certification, IT and public laws.
He is the author of several publications and member of the DPO News editorial board.
Before joining the CCB in 2016, he was a lawyer at the Brussels’ Bar specialized in public and administrative laws (both national and international) and a teacher assistant at the Faculty of Law of the Brussels University (ULB). He holds a Law degree and a LL.M. degree in public and administrative Law both from the ULB.
