Introduction

While national regulations are impacting data processing activities and data flows, international research seems to be more and more needed. This session will focus on the needs and opportunities to develop international cooperation to support research in privacy and data protection. It also aims to identify practical actions to move forward and set the basis of an international cooperation for research on data protection.

Key questions and objective

  • What are the main challenges posed by the lack of knowledge about data protection policies, and how can these challenges be overcome through international collaboration?
  • How do different legislative frameworks impact data protection and compliance efforts, and what strategies can be implemented to reconcile these differences?
  • What innovative ideas can be proposed to foster international research cooperation in this field?
  • What are the practical steps to consider and to move forward?
