Joost Agterhoek is technology and policy advisor at NLnet. He selects and supports research projects that receive funding from NLnet while keeping in touch with stakeholders, contacts in the field and (digital) society at large. At the moment he is committed to make a success of NGI Zero Discovery and NGI Zero PET, part of the Next Generation Internet initiative.
Joost has a background in business journalism and studied sociology at the University of Amsterdam. For Internet Society Netherlands he researched how organizations implement the General Data Protection Regulation and wrote about privacy issues concerning the Dutch Intelligence and Security Services Act and the GDPR. Next to working for NLnet, Joost reports on energy efficiency and decarbonization for various trade papers and organizations.
