How would you perform in isolation, confinement, and remote
conditions? The Human Exploration Research Analog (HERA), a simulation
environment at NASA Johnson Space Center, puts volunteer crew members to the
test in its unique three-story habitat designed to serve as an analog for
these conditions in space exploration scenarios, such as traveling to
Mars. This session will provide participants with a fascinating overview
of the HERA program by NASA expert Lisa Spence, Flight Analogs Project
Manager. This unique information can be utilized to teach students about
analogs and to explore why analogs are critical to space exploration.
