2024 Brief Biography for Jami Lupold

Jami Lupold is a GRAMMY Nominee and Music Educator Finalist and a Yale Distinguished Music Educator. She specializes in integrated curriculum design while fusing the arts and sciences. She has created rich learning environments merging science and the arts through partnerships with Fabien Cousteau, NASA and its ISS partners, The Houston Symphony, and other organizations.  As a Fine Arts Specialist, she emphasizes engaging students through multiple facets of learning connecting them emotionally to create deeper and more memorable learning experiences. 

Jami’s students have worked with world-class astronauts, scientists, and musicians in the classroom, virtually, and on public stages. Jami and her students have performed live Music in Space events with Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield, American astronaut Cady Coleman, and Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata.  She flew a Japanese folk instrument (the Sho) on the SpaceX dragon to ISS Commander, Koichi Wakata to support his efforts in sharing the music of his Japanese culture from space. She is known to bring the best the world has to offer into the classroom, engaging students in deeply inspiring and often life-changing lessons. 

Jami has been a music educator  (K-12 and Post-Graduate) for 38 years in Texas and New Mexico and has presented at state, national, and international music and space educator’s conferences.  Her principal’s father was the first space shuttle pilot – Bob Crippen.  Jami is currently a fine arts specialist at Heritage Elementary in La Porte, Texas. Every day is a good day to teach at Heritage while creating a legacy of excellence.
