Acting on the core aspects of UNs Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); to curtail inequality issues, diminish environmental degradation and provide a secure and resilient livelihood, remains a complex challenge for civil society and United Nations member states.

While the SDGs inherited a wide array of pending targets from the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), member states are increasingly using the SDGs as a comprehensive and adaptable framework for sustainability and decision-making. In this respect, organisational knowledge about the SDGs and other associated governmental norms (policies and regulations) are playing a major role in determining the collective action in driving the non-linear evolutionary processes for transformative sustainability.

Understanding the inter-dependencies of the linked social-economic-environmental policies embedded in the existing targets and indicators of the SDGs, and acknowledging the barriers related to allocation of responsibilities and monitoring success with respect to the SDGs, this session will explore the various governance challenges influencing implementation of the SDGs, more specifically, in the Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence domain.

IoT Week event partners Microsoft DK and Grundfos will join the opening stage, represented by their CEOs Marianne Dahl Steensen and Mads Nipper. Moderated by Sébastian Zegler, the two participants will give their views on exponential technologies, ethics and values, ecosystems and partnerships, and how all of it can be used to achieve the SDGs.
