Unlike literature or fine art, which exists on paper and so can be comparatively easily preserved, theatre is an event, and like all historical events, can only be preserved indirectly through the fossils it leaves behind on paper, video, audio, and digital artifacts. This panel brings together the heads of some of the most important theatre archives in the United States to talk about the challenge of preserving theatre, and what can be found in their collections.
