When:
5:00 PM, Saturday 27 Jan 2018 (50 minutes)
Where:
Jacob K. Javits Convention Center - Vinnette Carroll Room
Broadway Dreams, an international nonprofit dedicated to the mentoring and training of young adults in the performing arts, presents the panel: Where Investment Meets Your Dreams: the intersection between arts education and a career. Featuring select staff and faculty of the organization (Craig D'Amico, Nick Adams, Annette Tanner, Ryann Redmond, Grant Kretchik, Erin Dilly, Paige Price, and Tyler Hanes) and moderated by Amanda Watkins, this panel will explore the journey from the educational classroom to a career in the performing arts. Appealing to both educators and performers alike, this conversation will provide useful insight into the world of theatre arts training as it relates to preparing the performer for the professional world. Perhaps of particular interest to the viewer, the panel will explore the current landscape of the theatre industry, citing how changes such as rising tuition costs, competition within the actor pool, and accessibility to excellent pre professional programs are blurring the line between a formal arts education and a career trajectory.
