Dr. Heather Domjan
Dr. Heather Domjan is a University of Houston Associate Clinical Professor in the College of Education and has been in education for 24 years in various roles. Dr. Domjan’s focus is teaching science as inquiry to pre-service education teachers and inspiring students in STEM degrees and careers. Dr. Domjan is the Interim Executive Director of the University of Houston STEM Center whereby she oversees K-16 STEM student programs to educate underserved students about the sciences and engineering career fields. She has developed and evaluated elementary and middle-school science and math curricula while working with subject area teachers, coordinators, administrators, and area superintendents to accomplish student achievement goals. Dr. Domjan collaborated with the Association of Space Explorers Congress Houston team members to bring Space Congress to Houston in 2019 and support the Community Day event on the University of Houston campus.
Dr. Domjan has been the Executive Director since 2016 of the Science and Engineering Fair of Houston (SEFH) which is a 501c3 nonprofit educational program in Southeast Texas that has served over 400,000 students since 1958. SEFH presents an exceptional experience for 6th-12th grade students to showcase their STEM research to participating industry and community stakeholders who provide insightful feedback so future workforce connections are fostered. SEFH is a conduit that assists to match scientific talent to appropriate industry needs which builds the industry career pipeline. The program encompasses 23 counties with support from over 500 scientists and engineers.
