Lyman Carter, President, Oceans To Orbits: Having attended Boston University on a hockey scholarship, Lyman was a high school teacher for six years. Lyman has since launched a number of educational initiatives, beginning with the Wider Horizons Project, a curriculum-based international student travel program developed in collaboration with the Boston University School of Education and the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO. During that time, Lyman published a series of eight intercultural student travel workbooks and administered a Third World intercultural research study, based at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He then produced a middle and high school national concert enrichment series, along with a citizenship lecture series led by Members of Congress and hosted by New York's Carnegie Hall, Seattle's Opera House, etc. In addition, Lyman organized and chaired a 3-day forum on intercultural education for U.S. teachers and administrators at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. With the opening of Walt Disney's Epcot Center, combined with the Kennedy Space Center, Lyman founded Earth Shuttle, a middle and high school teacher and student science and mathematics immersion program involving schools from all 50 states and seven countries. Recently, Lyman launched Oceans To Orbits, a series of 4-day STEM & STEAM institutes, designed to help middle and high school students nationwide make wise college and career decisions.
