Harnessing Earth Observation for Environmental and Industrial Sustainability in Canada

The program will explore the transformative role of Earth Observation technologies in addressing the challenges posed by Canada’s rapidly changing climate. With Canada warming twice as fast as the global average and Arctic regions warming three times faster, the incidence of catastrophic events across the country has surged in recent times. Earth Observation provides critical data for both environmental monitoring and sustenance and industrial sustainability.

Sponsored by the World Geospatial Industry Council (WGIC), the program will feature presentations from leading Earth Observation companies, highlighting innovative solutions for managing natural resources, enhancing climate resilience, and optimizing industrial operations. It will demonstrate how satellite data and geospatial intelligence are used to monitor ocean health, land use changes, and environmental impacts. Attendees will also gain insights into advanced applications such as flood mapping, which aids in disaster preparedness and response, and methane emissions monitoring, which supports efforts to reduce greenhouse gases.

By showcasing practical applications and real-world examples, the program will guide stakeholders in balancing industrial growth with environmental stewardship.

CanSLAM

The CanSLAM Circuit is an event to encourage SLAM manufacturers from all over the world to come to Canada and demo their units in controlled sites at geomatics institutions across the country. From there, we assess each data set for performance using set criteria, report on the results (without appointing 'winners' or 'losers'), present the findings at the GoGeomatics Expo, then make the data sets publicly available at no cost.

The Canada Maps & Poster Gallery

“Canada Maps” traveling map gallery project. This effort, a partnership between the International Map Industry Association (IMIA), the Canadian Cartographic Association, and GoGeomatics Canada, demonstrates the profound impact of cooperation in advancing cartography.
Located on the trade show floor, the gallery provides a platform for professionals and students alike to receive feedback, engage with peers, and gain recognition for their work. Such interactions are invaluable for personal and professional development.

Fast Pitches: Pitch the Press

Got a cool geomatics product, service, student project, or academic/science research project/paper? Pitch it to a select panel of geomatics press and industry experts at the GoGeomatics expo.

Top picks will have their pitch written up as an online article published and promoted by GoGeomatics.

You’ll have 3 minutes to make your presentation, with 2 minutes of questions from the panel. You can present a PowerPoint, do a live demonstration, or just do your best “standup pitch”. This will be a fun way to practice your best rapid-fire pitch, inform the audience, and get a chance for broader exposure in the geomatics/geospatial community.
