
Dr Wendy Hatch is an Associate Professor and Director of Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (QIPS) in the Department of Ophthalmology and Vision Sciences (DOVS) at the University of Toronto. She is an Associate Member (teaching) at the Institute of Medicine and a Research Scientist at the Kensington Eye Institute. She received her Optometry and Masters of Vision Science degrees at the University of Waterloo.
Her research has focused on providing evidenced-based data to improve outcomes including involvement in the provincial Cataract Surgery Wait Times Strategy, province wide assessment of patient reported outcomes of cataract surgery, and the safety and efficacy of corneal cross-linking. She has co-developed and taught QIPS to DOVS ophthalmology residents for over a decade and has undergone training in how to teach QIPS from U of T’s Centre for Quality Improvement and Patient Safety and the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, and from the Association of American Medical Colleges-
