SAP: Delivering Eye Care in Conflict Zones & Remote Areas
My Session Status
This course will focus on the challenges and opportunities involved in providing effective and efficient eye care in conflict-affected and remote areas. Attendees will learn about the unique obstacles to delivering eye care in these environments, and the different strategies for overcoming these challenges. The course will also cover the use of telemedicine and other technologies, as well as successful initiatives. Participants will have the opportunity to network with health professionals involved in delivering eye care in these contexts.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Understand the unique challenges and obstacles to providing eye care in conflict zones and remote areas, such as limited access to medical equipment and trained personnel, security concerns, and logistical difficulties ;
- Build partnerships and networks with other organizations and stakeholders to enhance the delivery of eye care in these environments, including local NGOs, humanitarian organizations, and community leaders ;
- Identify best practices and successful programs and initiatives in delivering eye care in conflict zones and remote areas, and appreciate the ethical and moral considerations involved in providing eye care in these contexts, including the balancing of competing needs and priorities.
