Amazon homecoming: connecting people, barcodes, and biodiversity

Five years after the last International Barcode of Life Conference, the global community is reconnecting at the frontier of DNA technologies for biodiversity. Join us in Belém, Brazil's gateway to the Amazon biodiversity hotspot!

We are thrilled to announce that the iBOL Consortium, in collaboration with the Vale Institute of Technology, will host the 9th International Barcode of Life Conference from September 3rd to 6th, 2024, in the Amazonian port city of Belém, Pará, Brazil. This in-person conference provides a unique opportunity to exchange and disseminate cutting-edge scientific knowledge about the latest DNA barcoding and metabarcoding advancements for species identification. Participants will discuss the far-reaching implications of these developments for biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices. Leading figures in the scientific community, policymakers, representatives from conservation organizations, businesses, and stakeholders in the financial sector will converge in Belém to be part of this event.

We invite you to join us in Belém, a vibrant metropolis at the mouth of the Amazon River, boasting a rich cultural heritage, diverse cuisine, and unique architectural landmarks.
