Introduction to BOLD5

BOLD5 marks an advancement in data and operational models, providing enhanced features for data management and species identification. This workshop will introduce participants to some of the core functionalities of BOLD5, including:

Barcode Core Data Model: Streamlined processes for uploading, curating, and managing your barcode data.
Data Portal: Leveraging the new Data Packages for efficient data download and dissemination.
API and R-Based Access: Improved access and pipeline development capabilities.
Elastic Identification Engine: Enhanced features for species identification and reporting.
Multimedia Storage: High-throughput services for submitting and replicating specimen images and other multimedia.


What to Bring:

Please bring a laptop for hands-on sessions and ensure you have registered for a BOLD account in advance. Ideally, you should also have:

  • A project or dataset you wish to analyze
  • A set of taxa you want to extract


What You’ll Learn:
 

  • How to navigate the new data model and understand its implications
  • Techniques to maximize the performance of the new ID engine
  • Best practices for utilizing BOLD5’s analytical tools


Workshop Highlights:

Early Access: Gain access to tools and functionalities.
Interactive Demonstration: Engage in hands-on experience with data access tools (may be limited by connectivity)
Feedback Session: Share your experiences and suggestions to help shape the final development of BOLD5.
