Where:
Estação das Docas - Theater 1
This session will introduce the groundbreaking Brazilian initiative “Genomics of the Brazilian Biodiversity (GBB)” and explore the advancements in genetic and genomic tools, including DNA barcoding and metabarcoding, for biodiversity conservation, monitoring, and management. Started in 2022, GBB is a partnership between the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), Brazil’s environmental agency dedicated to safeguarding natural heritage and promoting socio-environmental development, and the Instituto Tecnológico Vale (ITV), a private non-profit institution committed to science, technology, and innovation. This session will provide a valuable opportunity for researchers, policymakers, and conservation practitioners to engage in discussions on biodiversity conservation and genomics research, fostering collaboration and innovation to address critical challenges facing Brazilian biodiversity.
