Scaling advanced methods for biodiversity assessments II

My Session Status

What:
Session
When:
11:30 AM, Thursday 5 Sep 2024 (1 hour 30 minutes)
Where:
Metabarcoding based biodiversity assessments including eDNA and mixed samples are yielding novel insights into biodiversity dynamics, detection of rare and endangered species, and the spread of invasive aliens. Scaling these advanced methods for more routine biodiversity assessments and monitoring requires standardization of methods and protocols, validation of methods, and standardization of analysis and interpretation, but also in many cases reassessment of biodiversity assessments, indicators, measures and approaches. This session invites speakers to share research results showcasing advances in scaling biodiversity assessments using metabarcoding from pilots and case studies to generalized approaches. Contributions from early career researchers are encouraged, especially those that show innovative approaches to biodiversity assessments; projects bridging science and industry; stakeholder engagement; and applications in regulatory settings.
